One extended journey circling Australia was terminated in the wake of the death of an elderly lady who was stranded by the cruise liner on a remote coastal location.

The passenger had been trekking on Lizard Island with shipmates from the cruise ship, but separated from the group for a rest. The vessel left without her and came back later that day after the personnel realised the woman was missing.

A major rescue mission located her remains the subsequent day.

Authorities are looking into the tragedy, together with investigators and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the shipping company announced that guests and crew on the Coral Adventurer were told that the rest of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "unfortunate death and previous technical problems".
